Introducing Our New Treadmill Service!

We’re excited to introduce a new service: structured treadmill exercise for dogs! This addition was included to support the dogs in our board-and-train programs by providing additional, purposeful movement that isn’t dependent on weather, scheduling, or environment. It’s a simple concept, but when used correctly, it becomes a valuable tool for both physical conditioning and behavioral balance.

Outdoor exercise will always be important, but it isn’t always reliable (especially in the PNW). Weather, air quality, and time constraints can all interfere with giving dogs the level of movement they actually need.

Treadmill work solves that problem by allowing us to provide structured exercise regardless of conditions. Dogs maintain routine, energy output stays consistent, and training progress isn’t interrupted.

Built Around the Dog’s Natural Movement

There’s a difference between walking a dog and allowing a dog to move at their natural pace. We often explain it like this: if an owner jogs their dog versus a dog being able to run freely, the output isn’t the same. Most people simply can’t match the endurance or gait their dog is built for.

The treadmill allows dogs to run forward with purpose in a controlled setting. It’s not about convenience, it’s about giving dogs a more effective outlet for their energy. This can be an excellent way to send your dog homes from day training or boarding in a satisfied head and body space with the additional tool to get all their zoomies out.

Tiered to Each Individual Dog

Every session is adjusted based on the dog in front of us. We tailor speed, duration, and intensity to match:

  • Fitness level

  • Age

  • Confidence

  • Training goals

  • Breed specific needs

This tiered approach makes the exercise more effective while keeping it safe and productive.

Low Impact, Joint Friendly & Suitable for Senior Dogs & Physical Limitations

Compared to repetitive pavement running or high-impact play, treadmill conditioning is easier on the body.

We intentionally sourced a treadmill model designed to accommodate dogs with mobility concerns or physical complications.

For senior dogs especially, structured movement can support:

  • Muscle maintenance

  • Circulation

  • Weight control

  • Mental engagement

It allows older dogs to stay active in a way that’s measured and appropriate for their condition.

Supporting Behavior & Training

Consistent physical output plays a major role in behavior. Dogs with productive energy outlets tend to show better focus in training, reduced anxiety, improved impulse control and have an easier time settling down post-exercise. Treadmill sessions provide a reliable way to meet those physical needs, which directly supports the work we’re doing in training programs.

A Practical Addition to Our Programs

This service is available as an add-on to board and train, boarding, and select training programs. It’s designed to complement (not replace) outdoor work and structured handling.

At the end of the day, it’s another tool that helps us deliver balanced dogs: physically fulfilled, mentally engaged, and better prepared for real-world structure.

If you’re interested in adding treadmill conditioning to your dog’s stay or training plan, we’re happy to walk you through how it fits into their program.
